Mr. Gaurav Verma

Industrial Automation Expert | Certified PLC Programmer

About Program

This 4-week online intensive Summer Internship Program is designed to give you hands-on experience in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Field-Level Instrumentation and SCADA Systems used for real Industrial Automation. The course is delivered through instructor-led live sessions of lectures and hands-on demonstrations on real PLC hardware and SCADA software — the same tools used on plant floors today.

You will go end-to-end on the industrial automation stack: PLC hardware components, ladder logic programming, timers and counters, advanced logic functions, troubleshooting techniques, SCADA architecture, HMI development, data logging, alarms, trends and remote networking. Every concept is reinforced with applied exercises and finished off with industrial case studies and a capstone project.

By the end of the internship, you will be able to design, program and commission a PLC-based control system, build a working SCADA HMI for monitoring and supervisory control, and confidently apply for industrial automation, control systems and instrumentation roles — backed by a recognised certificate of completion.

  • ✓ Understand industrial automation, PLC architecture and PLC hardware components used in real plants.

✓ Read, design and write Ladder Logic programs from scratch on industry-standard PLC software.

✓ Use Timers, Counters and advanced logic functions to build sequential control programs.

✓ Find and fix problems on a running PLC system using structured troubleshooting techniques.

✓ Understand SCADA architecture and where it sits in the plant automation hierarchy.

✓ Build Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) — screens, animations, alarms and operator controls.

✓ Implement Data Logging and Trends to capture and visualise process data over time.

✓ Configure Remote Access and Industrial Networking for distributed plant monitoring.

✓ Walk through real industrial case studies and ship a complete capstone automation project.

✓ Be interview-ready for industrial automation, instrumentation and control system engineer roles.

  • Module 1 : Introduction to Industrial Automation and PLC

    • What is Industrial Automation? — process vs discrete automation, where PLCs fit, and how plant-floor control has evolved.

    • PLC Hardware Components — CPU, power supply, digital and analog I/O modules, communication modules and rack architecture.

    • Introduction to Ladder Logic — contacts, coils, rungs, and how to think about real-world control problems in ladder form.

Module 2: PLC Programming and Troubleshooting

    • Software for PLC Programming — installing, configuring and connecting to a PLC; project tree, hardware configuration and download/upload.

    • Timers and Counters — TON / TOF / RTO timers and CTU / CTD counters used in real sequencing problems.

    • More Advanced Logic Functions — math, compare, move, set/reset, edge detection and sequencer instructions.

    • Finding and Fixing Problems — structured PLC troubleshooting, online monitoring, force tables and common field faults.

Module 3 : SCADA Systems and Monitoring

    • What is SCADA? — architecture, where SCADA sits above the PLC layer, tags, drivers and runtime/engineering split.

    • Creating Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) — screen design, animations, push-buttons, alarms and operator workflows.

    • Data Logging and Trends — capturing process data, real-time and historical trends, and storing logs for analysis.

    • Remote Access and Networking — industrial networks, remote SCADA access and secure communication basics.

Module 4: Real Projects and Career Preparation

    • Real Industrial Case Studies — walk-throughs of actual plant automation deployments and their PLC + SCADA architectures.

    • Final Project Development — design, program and demonstrate a complete PLC + SCADA control system end-to-end.

    • Career Preparation and Certifications — automation career paths, industry certifications and how to position yourself.

    • Final Presentation and Certification — present your project, receive feedback, and earn your hard-copy certificate.

    Module 5 : Hands-on Final Projects
